Housing Information and Referral provides personal service to those needing housing and other special needs that will help a person to become a responsible tenant or homeowner. A database of all affordable housing units, group homes, rooming houses, and senior housing in Monmouth County was compiled and is kept current so that clients' have a clear and accessible housing resource to help them find safe and decent living options most likely to meet their specific needs.

While the Alliance is not a clinical service provider, it does recognize the special needs of low income families, the frail elderly and disabled persons, and welcomes the opportunity to provide clients assistance in negotiating the often confusing maze of supportive services through contracts and referral agreements with other agencies. The Alliance provides clients assistance with applications for public assistance, housing selection and financial management, and assists clients in locating social services. We also provide quality affordable office space to other nonprofit agencies.

Acknowledged at local, State, and National organizational levels, the Alliance received the Governor's Award for Housing Excellence in 1998 and 1999 from New Jersey's Department of Community Affairs for housing administration and preservation respectively, and in 2001, the Alliance was bestowed the National Award of Merit from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials for the agency's Community Outreach Initiative. Most recently, the Alliance received the coveted N.A.A.C.P., President's Community Service Award for the agency's commitment to providing housing for all people of Monmouth County.
